Vote! John Flynn
Kalama City Council

I retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2010 after a 37 year career in which I acquired hands-on supervisory and management experience in track construction, maintenance and inspection. During part of that time I was the liaison for Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) with the Federal Railroad Administration for track safety and inspection in the northwest region. I was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE).

My formal education includes having graduated from Petaluma High School (home of the Trojans) in California, earned an AA degree from Santa Rosa Jr. College, and attended Portland State University on an athletic scholarship.

On a personal note, I have been married to my lovely wife, Teresa, for 40 years. We have two grown sons and two grandchildren.

We retired to Kalama as an ideal location to spend our “golden years”. The small town atmosphere, livability, and access to the Columbia River were all critical in that decision.

I enjoy fishing, clamming, crabbing, hunting, boating, and traveling. Much of my spare time is spent on the local No Methanol Refinery campaign working to keep Kalama's air and water clean so we can all continue to enjoy healthy rivers and preserve our quality of life.

Having attended and participated in numerous council meetings over the years, I believe that my experience and integrity would be an asset to the council, the city, and our community. I ask for your vote in the primary election on August 6th.
